Meet S. Vanessa Howard
RELATIONSHIP CENTERED, CULTURALLY EMPOWERING VIRTUAL THERAPY in Maryland
You’ve Identified the Need for Change—Now Let’s Turn It into Action.
You’re here because something doesn’t feel right anymore. You’ve been holding it together for a long time—showing up, managing expectations, pushing through. But under the surface, there’s a sense of disconnection. Maybe it’s the weight of anxiety you’ve learned to live with, the lasting impact of trauma you haven’t had space to process, or the feeling that you’re stuck in patterns that no longer fit who you’re becoming. You know it’s time for a shift—you just need the right therapeutic support to make it.
You may be in a relationship where cultural or communication differences create tension, or navigating life in a cultural context that feels unfamiliar or demanding. Maybe you’re constantly caught between who your community expects you to be and who you actually are. These aren’t surface-level struggles—they affect how you show up in every part of your life, especially in your relationships. And you don’t have to keep figuring it out alone.
That’s where I come in.
Hello! I'm Vanessa, and I am a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology, currently working toward completing my doctorate. I also hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology and have gained experience working with individuals navigating complex identity, anxiety, and relationship challenges.
As someone with cultural roots in Francophone West Africa, my approach to therapy is deeply influenced by my background. I understand what it’s like to juggle multiple cultural expectations and perspectives, and I bring that understanding into every session. I’m passionate about helping clients reconnect with their true selves, explore their identities, and move through challenges with clarity and confidence.
In our work together, we’ll slow down and make space for your voice, your story, and your needs. We’ll untangle stuck patterns, build emotional awareness, and explore the impact of your relationships, upbringing, and cultural background. I’ll help you strengthen your boundaries, connect more deeply with yourself and others, and learn how to show up with clarity and confidence. Together, we’ll move toward the change and connection you’ve been craving—with compassion, intention, and care.
I offer virtual therapy to adults in Maryland, and I currently practice under the supervision of a licensed psychologist as I complete my training. If you’re looking for a therapist who will honor your complexity and walk with you toward meaningful change, I’d love to connect.

I currently offer virtual therapy to adults who are physically located in Maryland. All sessions are conducted online, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
Whether you’re navigating the demands of work, school, caregiving, or simply prefer the flexibility of remote sessions, virtual therapy can be just as powerful and personal as meeting in person.
If you’re in Maryland and looking for a space to explore who you are and what’s weighing on you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you in that process.
