  • No, I do not accept any insurance. However, upon request, I can help you prepare a superbill to get reimbursement for the services you directly pay me for through your out-of-network (OON) benefits with insurance if you do want to use this specific part of your insurance benefits(if you have it). See FAQ( below) about how to figure out if you have OON benefits or this step-by-step guide on navigating your Out-of-Network Benefits for therapy.

I choose to limit my interaction with insurance for several reasons. One is to protect your privacy and confidentiality. Mostly, therapy with insurance means your therapy isn’t actually confidential because notes can be reviewed by insurers for service utilization and medical necessity. Also, with insurance I have to prove you are “sick enough” to need services and thus a diagnosis is required. I work from a place of strengths, not deficits, and not everyone who comes to therapy fits criteria for a diagnosis. That doesn’t mean they don’t “need” therapy or it’s not helpful to improve their wellbeing.

  • I accept payment via all major credit cards and health savings accounts. I expect full payment at the end of each therapy session.

  • Here are your options:

Visit your health insurer's website to view your plan details.

-Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to verify your benefits.

Ask these questions when speaking to your insurance company about benefits:

    1. How much of my deductible has been met this year?

    2. What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health? (Outpatient means treatment outside a hospital.)

    3. What is my out-of-network coinsurance for outpatient mental health?

    4. Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out-of-network?

    5. How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement? (Claims are forms that are sent to your insurance company to receive reimbursement for sessions you paid for out of pocket.)

  • I offer specialized comprehensive care to my clients and am able to work on a more detailed treatment plan as needed. Here is an article that further details the benefits.

  • No, I do not offer pro-bono or sliding scale sessions. As a way of giving back to my community, I offer my services in various community spaces that support immigrants and POCs. If you are in need of free or low-cost therapy, I recommend Open Path Psychotherapy Collective and the Maryland Pro Bono Counseling Project. If you have insurance and are not financially able to invest in out-of-pocket therapy or use your Out of Network benefits, please contact your insurance carrier for a list of approved providers.
